I live in New York but I eat ice cream everywhere. I've written for the New York Times, the Nation, the International Herald Tribune, the Washington Post, the Wall Street Journal, Salon.com, the Atlantic, National Geographic Traveler and Women's eNews, I can tell you where to get good ice cream in Brazil, Lebanon, Syria, Egypt, Morocco, Italy, Turkey, the United Kingdom, France, New York, San Francisco, LA, Philadelphia, Jersey City and probably a few more places I just can't think of right now. Huffington Post links to a hilarious advertisment for Golden Gaytime ice cream pops, described on the company's official website as a "combination of toffee and vanilla-flavoured centre, dipped in a scrumptious choc coating and covered in crunchy biscuit pieces."
Is there anything you can hold in your hands that is more wonderful than ice cream? I stuck in the part about your hands so you can't answer "Well, maybe love is more wonderful than ice cream, or happiness, or a big leap in my stock portfolio." Those things are all indeed wonderful, but if you answered the question with anything other than an unhesitant, unrepentant "Of course not!", this is probably not the blog for you. This blog is for people all over the world who love ice cream, eat lots of ice cream, eat a little bit of ice cream, buy ice cream, sell ice cream, make ice cream, want to learn how to make ice cream, appreciate ice cream, read about ice cream and write about ice cream. I offer recommendations of my favorite places around the world, and am undertaking a slow and thorough investigation into the best ice cream America has to offer, beginning with a few in my hometown of New York. What's more, I recently received an ice cream maker, so look out for wild tales of my experiments in frozen confectionery and related recipes, as well as ice cream history and links from around the web. Anything you'd like to share, holler at me: icecreameverywhere@gmail.com. Friends and readers - please weigh in! Blogs are no fun unless people start contributing and debating, so pretend ice cream is like abortion rights or Israel/Palestine and let's get this party started.
